Registered nurses record patient's medical background and symptoms, give patient's their medication, observe patient and record their observations, operate and use medical tools, perform tests and record analyze findings, teach the patient how to manage injuries or illnesses, and explain to the patient what to do after treatment at home. 

Registered nurses work under the supervision of physicians. However, registered nurses can sometimes watch over other nurses such as, licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants.
